Why do I need a First Aid course?

A First Aid course is not only a legal requirement in many areas – it can also save lives in an emergency!

For your driver’s license:
Anyone who wants to obtain a driver’s license is legally required to complete a First Aid course. In road traffic, acting quickly and correctly can be vital.

For businesses and companies:
Employers must ensure that there are enough trained first aiders in the workplace. Depending on the size of the company, at least 5% of employees must be trained as first aiders. The training must be refreshed every two years.

Voluntary refresher training:
First Aid knowledge can be crucial in everyday life – whether at home, during sports, or in public. Regular refreshers help you respond confidently and correctly in an emergency.

How long does a First Aid course take? ⏳🚑

Basic First Aid Course (e.g. for a driver’s license) – 9 lessons (each 45 minutes) → approx. 7.5 hours
Occupational First Aid Course – 9 lessons → approx. 7.5 hours
First Aid Refresher Course (for workplace first aiders) – 9 lessons → approx. 7.5 hours

How long is a First Aid course valid? ⏳🚑

The validity of a First Aid course depends on its purpose:

For a driver’s license:
A First Aid course for obtaining a driver’s license has no fixed expiration date and does not need to be renewed. It is generally valid for life.

For workplace first aiders:
Employers are required to ensure that first aiders are regularly trained. Therefore, the course must be refreshed every 2 years.

Recommended refresher for everyone:
Even if there’s no legal requirement, it is recommended to refresh First Aid knowledge every 2 to 3 years. This helps you stay confident and effective in emergency situations.
